Spring is the perfect time to make some colourful cards, and these Easter chicks are a super fun activity to make on the weekend or as a classroom craft. They are so adorable that you can almost hear these cute little chicks cheep!
The concertinaed legs and pointed beaks make a fun 3D addition and foam squares help the wings to pop. Use any colour of card for the base and contrast colours – keep them traditional with yellow and orange shades, or go wild with neon cardstock and multi-coloured feathers.

How To Make
If using a cutting machine – upload the chick SVG design and cut the pieces from your cardstock ( Note: Change the blue lines to score lines in your cutting software – in the centre of the main card piece, across the centre of the orange diamond shape, and running across the orange strips – Attach the scorelines to their corresponding piece)
If using the PDF template – print the template onto sturdy paper or cardstock, cut around the pieces and use the templates to trace onto coloured cardstock. Ensure you cut the correct number of pieces as noted on each template section.
Draw the chick’s eyes onto the righthand front section of the main card piece.

Fold the diamond shaped section in half to form a beak. Apply a layer of glue to one outside edge and attach to the main body piece.

Apple small circles of pastel below the eyes using an eyeshadow brush or cotton bud to make rosy cheeks.

Attach the wings to the main card section using sticky foam rectangles or squares.

Apply glue to the top surface of the wings and attach feathers.

Fold the long rectangle strips of card in a concertina effect by folding roughly 1 inch in lengthways, flip to the opposite side and repeat. Continue until the entire strip is folded.

Apply glue to one end of the folded strip and attach to the centre of the foot section.

Attach the other end of the strip to the lower edge of the front of the card. Repeat with the other strip and foot piece.

Write an easter message in the centre and your card is ready to send to a special someone!
